About Jon Carroll Otterson

Jon Carroll Otterson

Born and raised in Indio, California, art and music have been an integral part of Jon's life since early childhood. He's primarily recognized for his surrealist paintings, but also experiments with pen and ink, mosaics, re-purposed materials, wood, and reverse painted plexiglass with L.E.D.s and fiber optics, among others. Much of his work evokes visual observation and commentary, or hidden meaning. His first professional endeavor was a political cartoon for an underground newspaper at the age of twelve. Social commentary, often weaves through his art. Although, rarely obvious. He produces work that is meticulous, but with an organic flow. Most of which, are produced with only five original colors.
