"Locus Cultus" is simply Latin for "Place of Worship".
A nondescript religious complex made from Pine, Bass, Balsa wood, and rice paper colored with felt tip ink pens. The purposely vague, yet recognizable structure, built on a 1;120 scale, I borrowed from multiple cultures. Although, primarily Western, with a nod to Art Deco. (The main chappal would be 110'x100', with an 80' ceiling.)
There are no distinct symbols that would denote any particular religion.
Made from thousands of cut, shaped and sanded wood pieces.
The structure is comprised of 12 separate sections that can be dismantled for repair, or modification, but fit tightly enough together, without glue, to allow light from 100 battery powered l.e.d.s to only be seen through the rice paper 'stained glass' windows.
Born and raised in Indio, California, art and music have been an integral part of Jon's life since early childhood. He's primarily recognized for his surrealist paintings, but also experiments with pen and ink, mosaics, re-purposed materials, wood, and reverse painted plexiglass with L.E.D.s and fiber optics, among others.
